What is the Workforce Innovation Board of Ramsey County (WIB)?
The Workforce Innovation Board of Ramsey County (WIB) is a legislatively mandated entity whose role is to set public workforce policy, provide opportunity for community input and direction on the public workforce development program in Ramsey County, and assure outcomes meet standards set by the WIB through the governance structure. The WIB brings together representatives from business, organized labor, community-based organizations, education, economic development, government, and America’s Job Center partners. The WIB helps maintain the economic health of Ramsey County and the region by identifying current and emerging workforce issues and needs, creating partnerships to serve the needs of businesses and career seekers, and overseeing publicly-funded workforce programs in Ramsey County.

Who can serve on the WIB?
The WIB of Ramsey County is made up of 33 members. WIOA mandates that employers drive the WIB’s policy direction. Therefore, the majority of the WIB’s members (51%) must come from the private sector. A minimum of 20% are from organized labor and community-based organizations. The remaining members of the WIB are leaders from the fields of education, economic development, government, and America’s Job Center partners.
